Independent Character

    

     When I learned that there was a precious opportunity to come UWEC of the U.S. as an exchange student, I was very excited. Before that, I have studyed in Chinese University for one year. Whenever my Chinese friends ask me about what the differences between Chinese students and the students of UWEC, I will tell them that the students here are more independent than Chinese students. They have fully realized that they have been adults, and have to been responsible for their behavior and futures. As a typically case, the parents of Chinese students always caring about whether their children eat enough all the time, dress warmly and get the fair treatment. They will make a lot of telephone calls to children and asked them everything about daily life. In China, we call these children “The King of Family”. But in the United States, many students have to handle their own basic needs, and even earn some money to pay for their college tuition. Also, each student has their own privacy which cannot tell them to their parents. In terms of my opinion, this is the most important thing that Chinese students should learn from the students of UWEC.
